Friday August 31 2007, Montreal crews Le Son 666, Natacha’s Recordings and Panospria combine like Voltron to bring you this year’s edition of the “proper positive jam of the season,” Endless Summer.

The addition of the Panospria massive to the mix this year is helping to cast an even wider net in terms of performances. Some repeat acts from last year’s line-up include the aforementioned Simon Called Peter, along with DJ Cyan, Darcin, Des Cailloux et du Carbone and Heart & Soul. New additions include BC laptop-techno producer Nuthre, free-vocal savant Monstre, famed electro DJ Mini’s live experimental Projet Inim project, and total drone n’ bass duo Yellowknives.

Eight dollars get people in, things kicking off at 10pm with the experimental sets and getting progressively hotter around midnight with the rump-shake inducers. A loft space on the picturesque Plaza St-Hubert has been confirmed, although the exact address will be posted on the web a few days prior to the event. MOUTHUS are USA-based Brian Sullivan and Nate Nelson and will bring maximum skronk cough-syrup damage that will leave the top of your head feeling all tingly and push loads of charged air into your sinuses. NB: this appearance will be a MOUTHUS/COUSINS OF REGGAE coupling, yes, bringing these down-home USA-boys and the CAD boys of cough-cough-syrup maximum breakage together, bouncing off of their recent split release. Ear-plug usage could not be more strongly stressed.

LADIES CLUB ORCHESTRA is an ensemble of XX electric/tronic luminaries of the greater-Montreal area. Mixing electro-acoustic, experimental and cracked electronics in an improv manner, this sextet will team-up in different configurations to wreak some tweaking havoc. This will be the Orchestra’s premiere performance.

NATACHA'S RECORDINGS EXPANDING SOUNDSYSTEM is a special edition of the Natacha's Recordings house band, due to severe Qi Gong action out of the province's capital. This reduced ensemble will consist of members from Black Chicklets, Brother Hong Kong, Burnt Hills Round Lake, Cian Ehtrie, Emits Burning Stars, Glittersoul Orchestra, Hearing From the Gap, Heart & Soul, Livingroom Orchestra, Massive Asthma, The Murray Street Band, Ohmu, Paper Boots, Rivers & Mountains, Ste-Sophie, Le Sentier Lumineux, Space Rock Will Prove We Are Not Alone, White Flower, etc etc. Strictly lovers set promised, in a space-minds jazz vein.

DJ DEBBIE WAYNE melts asses to J-E-L-L-O with her extensive digging. On top of having documented countless shows on her Flickr page and crafting eye-searing experimental shorts pushing formal boundaries, she’s fast becoming a top-dog in the “instant party” department.

Currently based in Vancouver, Natacha's Recordings homeboy Montag will
be touching base here in Montreal to launch his new Carpark release
Going Places. Continuing in the collaborative vein of its predecessor
Alone not Alone, Going Places sees Antoine Bédard teaming up with old
friends (Gooom label-mates M83, local/international beat crafter
Ghislain Poirier, Amy Millan of Stars) and new alike (Final Fantasy,
Rally label-mates Au Revoir Simone as well as the title piece which
includes sounds submitted by people from over 15 countries), but in a
decidedly more sunshine-positive way. While Alone not Alone was a
reflection of the numerous transitions happening in Bédard's life, we're
glad to see he's found a nice warm spot to curl up in and jump around on
if his latest album is any indication.

Joining the party will be Natacha's very own new crowning jewel Le Peuplier de Simon who will be dropping a hot hip-shaking set, drenched in the tele-kaleidoscopic rainbow-swirl sauce you've come to expect. Massive Asthma will be providing pre-recorded pleasures for the evening.

Oh boy, we're going for your eyes now. A charming short animation about a manipulative dog by an incredibly talented young Norwegian animator stinting at the NFB a while back. Simon Bélair and Léon Lo did the music and the short screened at the prestigeous Anecy animation fest in France and got propositioned by MTV Europe, among other things.

Oh boy, we're going for your ass now. Officially natacha's first Dance Music Record, this is me and Jacob Chelkowski wearing hoodies, ball caps and kerchiefs over our faces. Nagisa (left) and Mai (right), aka Perfect Dancer, rode a "steal-the-show" killer tornado through our fair city during the first week of June. If you were amongst the floored crowds at either their Suoni show with the Eastern Stars, The Unireverse and us on June 2nd at the Casa, or their gig at ZooBizarre with Enfant Magique and Jacob & Leon and Debbie Wayne on June 5th, you know they're the biggest thing on Earth right now (or should be!).

Japan is coming!

We met Nagisa and Mai when the Natacha’s Recordings Soundsystem joined Maher Shalal Hash Baz’s tour of Japan in April 2005. Their act, Perfect Dancer, seemed to come straight out of nowhere and sucker-punched our jetlagged sleepy hearts into instant awe and admiration. Their minimal guitar-and-keyboard-laced pop songs tell tales of lonely men, curry, bad desserts, spiritual leaders and exotic New York scenesters, with the “Fi” leaning to the (very) “Lo”.It turns out Perfect Dancer had a previous incarnation as a vegan food-stand, “however, soon after they opened the stall, the coldest wave in 60 years hit the earth, which caused damage to agricultural products in all over the world. And people in Russia were in trouble…”

Two New Natacha's Recordings Soundsystem cd-rs

If you're inclined to go spend some money on records, you are wading in a veritable pool of luck my friend. We have just passed by your local record shops and dropped off the new Natacha's Recordings Soundsystem live cd-rs "dans nos cheminées" and "regional touch flame". The first is a recording of the famous bicycle show we did opening for Xiu Xiu in early 2003 at the Suoni Per Il Popolo fest in Montreal and the second is the not so famous but equally lovely matinée show we did for the Brave New Waves 20th anniversary shindig in Toronto in March of 2004. Cds come complete with one type of handsome wood apliqué each for the Doityourself-ers out there.

After shying away from the New Arrivals rack at your local record stores for more than a year now, the Montreal collective is celebrating it's third birthday and launching two companion cds by the Natacha's Recordings Soundsystem. Recorded by CBC's Brave New Waves in June 2003 and February 2004, these recordings shed some light on the new musics and sounds percollating in the collective's work over the past year. Electric pianos, violins, livingroom practices, practices, practices, flutes, some kinds of chamber music, baby drums, naive rondos, sax-a-ma-phones and clarinettes, a lot of sound, a little bit of order, some outlines and lots of re/belief. Natacha can climb the monkey bars and do that twirly thing with the head upside down now, but knows not to do it right after lunch too often. Drop in and check that out, laugh with your hearts and tummys, share the music and dance until it's too late as always...

Profits from the night will help finance the Soundsystem's upcoming Japanese tour in April 2005 alongside friends Montag and Vitaminsforyou. The cds will be available for 10$. Many other swell delights will be made available for the right price, so stuff your wallets please, this one's a stick-up!

Natacha's Recordings invite you to spend a very special evening during the 4th Suoni Per Il Popolo Festival at La Sala Rossa. Back from the Brave New Waves 25th anniversary celebrations in Toronto, the ever-young Montreal collective is presenting a new project involving a baker's dozen of musicians testing the (lack of) boundaries of ecstatic musical abandon. The GlitterSoul Orchestra capture and transcribe the golden-tongued melodies and voluptuous rhythms that inhabit our collective wet dreams. Trumpets, violins, guitars and percussions will meet the machines at the finish line to provide, on a hot summer's evening, a veritable oasis of dance, glitter and soul. Opening will be Cian Éthrie vs. Emits Burning Stars in All Out Dub Battle, Des Cailloux et du Carbone and The Brian Allen Lipson Band.

Colin, Francis, Léon, Marcello and Simon are trucking down the Four-O-One or whatever it is that drivers take to go to Toronto. All the friends there should definitely check out BNW's 20th at the Drake Hotel Saturday March 20 as we've been invited to help kick things off during a matinee gig (we love kids!) along with The Reveries and The Great Lake Swimmers. Night time sees J. Schizoid, Tinkertoy, mn-l, Egg, The Blanket, The World Provider, The Sick Lipstick and Les Georges Leningrad. Whew! Farewell Teruki!

So, after two years in Montréal, Teruki is making like John Denver and is leaving on a jet plane to go back to his native Japan. Teruki (aka Guêpe, Turkey, Teru tha Damaja and yes, Blacky) has managed to win over the heart of every single person you can think of by just being his terrific self, and his absence will punch a great big hole right in the middle of our little island (so like, Décarie and Namur, say). And while we try to stop being all sad and shit over here, Teruki will be representing full force over there, keeping the music and the Teruki shenanigans waaayyyy on. So yeah, geographic distance is always a little hard on the teary eyes and leaky nose side of things, but we all know he'll be back soon. Maybe. We miss you already, Teruki! We love you very much, so take care of yourself, and good luck with everything (Authentic Canadian Dining)!

Sometimes playing all at once, other times in smaller groups, this good bunch made funny sounds, nice lights and two tinsel birds. Natacha's recordings invite you to help celebrate the launch of our third compilation,couc couc, various artists, manufactured in a run of 300. For this latest offering, our young collective turned once more to the comforting ingredients, preparations and baking instructions that helped produce its first two compilations while picking up a few new faces and catching glimpses of many wonderful sunsets along the way.

Saturday August 30 at 9pm marks the night when the people involved in projects such as Cian Éthrie, Figues, Montag, Unipolar, Helen of Troy and Emits Burning Stars combine their efforts and become The Livingroom Orchestra for the evening. This incarnation will summon mysterious transmissions from the sun, rainbow jump-cuts and glorious astral collapse.

Rare photos of Rivers and Mountains show

Rivers and Mountains started off as an electronic project of Justin Evans (from Emits Burning Stars) until he was asked to open for the Shalabi Effect at the Sala Rossa on July 23. Instead of using the usual language of live electronic performances, he took the original music as a launching pad to freedom, getting help from more than a dozen friends, three confetti canons, "performance wrestlers" in terrifying masks and what is surely the biggest beach ball in the history of plastics. The result was akin to the "One More Time!" segment in the Gong Show movie: straight pipeline to ecstatic abandon! We are proud to release the first full-length cd by Guêpe calledLeft Behind in the Water. It is available at all fine shops in the Montréal area. Teruki Tamayanagi, aka Guêpe, went back to Japan recently, but left us an album filled with strange melodies, liquid rhythms and warm tones.

Finally, an english web-site!

Very sorry for the delay and the inconvenience it could have caused any non-french speaking (and reading) people out there. The english version is as full of insightful, witty, biting social commentary as the french version, so have yourself some hardy fun.
